What is a Pre-Employment Health Report?

A Pre-Employment Health Report is a mandatory document that certifies whether a prospective employee is medically fit for the job before starting work. This report is required under Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and is requested by employers to evaluate a worker’s health status and determine job compatibility. Its main purpose is to prevent occupational accidents and diseases. Especially in hazardous and very hazardous jobs, employees must renew this report periodically.

When Should a Pre-Employment Health Report Be Obtained and How Long Is It Valid?

Employees are required to obtain a pre-employment health report before beginning any job. Additionally, Law No. 6331 stipulates that periodic health checks be carried out depending on the hazard class of the job:

• For low-risk jobs, the health report must be renewed every 5 years.
• For medium-risk jobs, the renewal period is every 3 years.
• For high-risk jobs, the report is valid for 1 year.

These intervals may be shortened based on the employee’s health status or upon the recommendation of the workplace physician. In cases such as job changes or prolonged health issues, a new report may be required.
